On August 15, 2011, at the age of 15, Sam Alexander sunk a 40 foot putt to place 3rd at the McDonald's Heroes Hope Healing Golf Classic with a one handed swing, standing on one biological leg and one state-of-the-art Hanger prosthetic.
Sam Alexander was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in March of 2010. He only lived 19 months after his diagnosis, but what an amazing legacy he leaves behind. After his right leg was amputated, he was told he'd never golf again. Proving the doctors wrong, he then went on to not only play again, but to realize his dream of winning a trophy in his first tournament. Sam left his mark on every person who was lucky enough to meet him —whether it was in the hospital, out shopping or "on the course." His positive spirit was so strong; he was always happy and smiling. People were drawn to him, and to that end his legacy was born. He would be honored to think that his experience would better the lives of other children. "Sam's Room" came from all the love and support from people who knew and loved Sam. Many kids have cancer and never have a "Room" dedicated to them, so not only is this in honor of Sam, but to all children who share his experience.
Maybe, you don't play golf. But, you don't have to be a golfer to sink your own "40 foot putt".
Will you donate $1 per foot to sink your own "40 ft putt" and join Sam's legacy of helping change the lives of children fighting cancer and undergoing treatments?
